I Forgot

I

I forgot to include a story in the newsletter I write for the tennis club. I forgot we were going to tell the kids about the Richardsons. I forgot to get my car inspected because when I looked at the sticker it was three months overdue. Harriet reminded me we were going to tell the kids about the Richardsons. I went to the hardware store, the grocery store, and the library, and I remembered my shopping list but I forgot to bring the books I meant to return to the library. I got my car inspected. I remembered to wish a friend a happy birthday. I remembered today to work on my novel. I forgot where I put down my glasses and spent days wondering where. I forgot to respond to Walt’s text. I packed my tool bag but forgot the allen wrenches and I couldn’t dismantle the bed frame when I got there. I came across my glasses in a spot where I never leave them. I forgot to bring aforementioned glasses with me to the restaurant and had trouble reading the menu. I remembered to pick up Owen at the airport. I forgot to get on 87 South because I’m so used to going north. I remembered to get off at the next exit and turn around. I came to a fork in the road and remembered to take it. I forgot to kiss Harriet yesterday and so I kissed her extra today. I forgot I had made other plans and can’t make it to movie night. I’d like to say I forgot to have the old oil tank removed from the basement, but in reality I’ve just been putting it off. I forgot I was limiting myself to only one drink. I’d forgotten I already read To Have and Have Not until I was fifty pages in and I put it down because I wasn’t loving it. I remembered I didn’t love it last time either but had read it all the way through. I forgot to pack my phone charger when visiting friends out of town and now I need a new one. I remembered to snapchat Julia only after she snapped me otherwise I might have forgotten which would have been devastating to our streak. I had a good idea and forgot it because I didn’t write it down.
