I Got Up From My Desk, Then Went Back and Fixed the Link to This Post

I

Recently I’ve written a few somber posts, like “Facing (or not) the Long Goodbye.” Sometimes I have to do that, to get it out of me. Not that I want to throw it on you, but I believe for all of us there is great value in a sad story.

Today is different. Today the sun is shining and the wind chimes are playing an extended set and I remember how much I love October. I got up from my desk and walked around the property, and this is what my world looked like today.

This beautiful red maple is front and center on our lawn., and from its limbs a window hangs.
I love my new birch tree, the color and shape of the leaves, its frilly bark.
The fire bush stuns in autumn. I’ve transplanted this one around the yard three times.
This maple on the corner is almost bare, and waiting for someone to try the swing.
Marigolds and sedum still in bloom.
What’s left of our sugar maple. Hang tough, my lovely friend.
